Soccer Challenge 08

The 2008 soccer challenge is just one of the youth programs they sponsor. The Knights of Columbus #816 held their soccer challenge for girls and boys between the ages of 10 years and 14 years old. There were twenty-five contestants from the surrounding area.

Each contestant received 3 practice kicks then 15 consecutive unblocked penalty kicks at the goal. Each shot was assigned a point value depending on where the ball entered the goal. Then the points were totaled for the 15 shots taken.

The goal was divided into five sections. One each in the upper left and right corners worth 20 points. One each in the lower left and right corners worth 10 points. The center of the goal worth 5 points. Missing the goal gets 0 points.

The categories for this challenge are broken down by age for boys and girls. Winners are selected by having the highest number of points in their category. There are a maximum of 10 winners for all age groups in both the boys and girls groups.
